Blackberry chia jam

This blackberry chia jam takes 5 minutes to make and  uses just three ingredients. I sweeten it with honey meaning it is free from refined sugar and the little magic chia seeds are what gives it the right texture.

Use frozen blackberries when fresh ones are not in season, this will save you a few pennies as well.

Try the jam on toast, in porridge, with yoghurt or oatcakes.


Blackberry chia jam


1 jar


300g blackberries
3-4 tbsp. honey (depending on how sweet you like it)
4 tbsp. chia seeds


Put the blackberries and the honey in a blender and blend until smooth.

Pour the mixture into a saucepan, add the chia seeds and heat on a medium to high heat for a minute or two, stirring continuously as it bubbles. The jam may spit a bit so wear an apron!

Turn the heat down a bit and keep stirring until the mixture has thickened, about 5 minutes.

Leave to cool before pouring into a glass jar.

Store in the fridge.
